Pineapple Installation
Pineapple Installation
2004

This work was installed for the Quiet Show at the aAlice Gallery in Kansas City, MO and is made up of five light switches controlling the primary light source shining upon the work and a rotting pineapple on a shelf. These two materials create a metaphor for the contrast between the longevity of the ideas behind the work of art and the transience of the people interacting with it.

The pineapple in this installation was originally taken to an apartment along with some beer where two friends of mine lived at the time and placed in their refrigerator. Since they had not seen me put the pineapple in the fridge each of the two people living there thought the pineapple belonged to the other person. As a result it stayed in their fridge for a really long time.
